“Jurassic Junk” a story of finding gold in other people’s junk!
Tracy Schumann and I went to High School way back in the day. We connected over the years at reunions and around town. A few years back while I was actively flipped houses, I was in need of clean out and debris removal. Tracy had started a company called Jurassic Junk. It was a perfect solution. It was less than a large dumpster and it came with two strong guys to haul it away.
There is a need for junk hauling and removal for families and businesses. Tracy saw this underserved market and created a solution. Jurassic Junk does some really progressive things in regards to environmental concerns and earnings opportunities. They sort the “junk” collected. Items that in good conditions are donated to charities like Goodwill Industries, Habitat for Humanity, Vietnam Veterans of America, Recycling is separated and responsibly recycled. What can not be donated, recycled or repurposed is taken to local waste companies and landfills.
This great concept has grown over the last 1o years. Now, Jurassic Junk is expanding to a nationwide franchise opportunity.
Social media keeps us connected and at top of mind
Tracy reached out last month in need of some professional photography. He had seen following my social media accounts and noticed my photography. When we spoke, Tracy explained that he was ready to launch his franchises. The company handling those agreements needed marketing collateral and good photographs. Like many business owners, there just were not a lot of quality images available, or that truly told the story. We reviewed the draft of collateral and came up with a game plan for photography. There was also a new for current images for their new website.
The “Plan” comes together
It was a cold January and not the best time for photography. We discussed the objectives, demographics, future needs and style of the shoot. Foturnately, western Pennsylvania has had an extremely mild winter. The other big issue was that timing. These images were needed ASAP, they were the last thing standing in front of the Franchise Launch.
After checking the weather, we agreed on the next Wednesday for the shoot. There were 3 locations in 3 hours. Tracy arranged for a few actors to help with the shoot, so his crews could service their customers. The three young men were actually the sons of some high school friends. That felt great and they were outstanding to work with. It was a truly collaborative effort and really enjoyable.
Shooting to Final Photos
Wednesday arrived and it was sunny! We shoot the fleet first at a local community center parking lot. The blue skies helped to create a non-seasonal appearance. Each vehicle, the employees and actors were all staged and photographed. Within an hour, we were done and the crew was able to get back to their scheduled stops.
From there we moved on to a neighborhood setting. The actors where up and knocked it out of the park! Photos and video was captured and really highlights the convenience and professionalism of the company. These shots turned out very well.
Finally, It was on to the country club to get professional headshot for Tracy and his director of operations. It was easy to shoot both inside and outside. We wrapped up in under 3 hours.
Now for the delivery. There was an urgency to getting these turned around. Because of the preparation and clear planning, editing was streamlined and efficient. With in 48 hours, the photos were ready and delivered back to Jurassic Junk. They were extremely pleased, and so was I.
